5-minute breakfast power bowl recipe

Just because you’re running late in the morning doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice a hearty, healthy breakfast. Here’s a five minute winter warmer to set you up for the day ahead.
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and yet so many of us miss it. If time is the reason you’re skipping out before you’ve eaten, it doesn’t need to be.
This delicious, seasonal and filling oatmeal recipe can be whipped up in less time than it takes you to get changed into your winter woolies.
How to make a healthy breakfast bowl
For the bowl
1/2 cup of quick porridge oats
3/4 cup of milk
3 tbsp butternut squash puree – you could also use sweet potato puree instead
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
For the toppings
Chopped almonds – or another nut of your choice
A dash of turmeric
1. Combine your milk and oats in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to the boil
2. Reduce to a simmer and stir until you get the consistency of porridge you like
3. Add the puree, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg.
4. Heat for one more minute and serve with your toppings.
