6 Must-Try Healthy Juices

Most wellness experts don’t go a day without drinking fresh vegetable juices. Yet they’re still looked down on by many of us, even though they’re a brilliant way to ensure you’re getting a daily dose of nutrients. Juicing is an affordable, simple and convenient way to consume a large portion of fruit and vegetables before you’ve even started your day. Fresh juices are loaded with vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytonutrients – which are all enormously beneficial to your health.


After just one week of having one fresh vegetable juice a day, you will notice increased energy levels, strengthened immunity, reduced cravings for junk food, better digestion, balanced emotions and it will help prevent chronic illnesses long-term.


Here is the recipe for our juice of the week. It’s called the Glowing Green Goddess.


You will  need:


1 Handful of parsley
1 Handful of kale
1 Handful of spinach
1 Half a cucumber
2 Celery Stalks
1 Pear
The juice of one lemon.

A pinch of Spirulina


Method: Put together in a blender and whizz until smooth. Enjoy!


Here’s a few more hero juices to keep you nourished throughout the festive season. They’re quick and easy to make, with minimal mess (I often peel veg directly into the bin) and, if you have as a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack throughout Christmas and New Year, you’ll know you’re fitting in a dose of daily goodness – even if your evenings are laden with calories, refined sugar and alcohol.


Broc around the Clock: Add broccoli, fresh ginger, fennel, pineapple and an apple with a cup of either still mineral water, or coconut water and blend. The sweetness of the apple and pineapple hides the broccoli.


Beet It: Add beetroot, fennel and apple to spring water or coconut water and blend. Drinking this after exercise reduces soreness in muscles. Beets are a superfood which are packed with nutrients including B9, fibre, plus they’ve been shown in studies to lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation and even ward off dementia.


Heartbeet: Beetroot, carrot, banana, pineapple, apple. As above, add to a glass of mineral water or coconut water and blend. Packed with nutrients you can feel it doing you good as you drink it.


Keep Calm and Carrot On: Add broccoli, ginger, fennel, carrot and fresh lemon juice with a cup of spring or coconut water to a blender and enjoy.


The best time of day to drink juices is for breakfast, and once you’ve got the hang of it you can be as inventive or keep it as simple as you want. You can’t beat a simple fresh orange, carrot and apple juice with a few slices of fresh ginger.


And, if you want to feel healthy but festive you can always start with a Healthy Bloody Mary:


You will need:

6 small tomatoes
1 carrot, peeled
1 celery stick
1/3 cup red onion, chopped
hot sauce
Worcestershire sauce
vodka (your choice)


Method: Core 6 tomatoes. Add the tomatoes to a blender, squeezing the juices before dropping them in.
Add 1 carrot, 1 celery stalk, 1/3 cup chopped red onion, hot sauce of your choice (tabasco, ideally) , 2 splashes of Worcestershire sauce, juice from ½ a lime, juice from ½ a lemon, salt and pepper. Blend until smooth. Add a large dash of vodka. Enjoy!
