A step by step guide to gorgeous make-up you can do at home for party season – by an expert

Mastering a new make-up look can be challenging at the best of times, not least when you have to factor in a drier complexion due to cold, wet weather. But expert Victoria Barnes shared with Lumity exactly how you can achieve a gorgeous, party season look which is not only on trend but can be easily replicated by you too.
“Beautiful skin is always in fashion,” says Victoria. “So a daytime look of a luminous base with pink cheeks and a lip blush nods to the Autumn/Winter catwalk make-up whilst being super wearable.”
But if you want to rely on more than just the chill in the air to give you a glow follow Victoria’s ‘how-to-guide’ and discover the products and the professional tips to create this season’s look.
Step 1: Great skin
“As with all good make-up the most important step has to be a base of good skincare,” Victoria explains. “Try switching from a foaming face wash to a cream/oil warm cloth cleanser and use a facial oil such as Lumity’s Skin Nutrients Facial Oil rather than a cream moisturiser. Not only will this provide an extra level of hydration for your skin, but it will also help you achieve the base glow for this makeup look.
Step 2: Colour Correcting Cream
“Rather than a heavy foundation go for a radiant colour correcting – CC cream – or beauty balm – BB cream – such as It Cosmetics Illumination CC Cream. This s also provides SPF 50, which is very important even in the winter months.
Step 3: Under Eye Concealer
“Add a light reflecting under eye concealer such as Charlotte Tilbury Retoucher which can also be used on the chin and around the nose to lift shadowed areas. If you are someone who suffers from very dark circles or blemishes you could also try Tarte Shape Tape Concealer which is heavily pigmented so beware a little goes a long way. Always pat rather than rub concealer in. This will push the pigment into the skin in the exact area you want the extra cover.”
Step 4: Mascara
“Next up add a coat or two of mascara,” says Victoria. “And be sure to curl your lashes if they are on the straight side. You could even treat yourself to a LVL lash lift for the winter season for a long lasting wide eyed lash look.
Step 5: Eyebrows
“Don’t forget your eyebrows! Tidy them up by brushing up and filling in any gaps with a pencil and set using a brow mascara such as the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows. This product just brushes through to slightly darken the hairs and sets them in place for a soft definition.”
Step 6: Cream Blush
“Next is your cream blush,” Victoria explains to Lumity. “I recommend Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in pale pink to add a pop of colour on the apples of your cheeks.
“Then add your highlighter. The trick here is to use an illuminating cream highlighter as opposed to anything containing glitter,
“It Cosmetics Hello Light Cream Highlighter has a beautiful sheer texture that’s just right for this look.
“Apply to the top of cheekbones, across the browbone, cupids bow and a little on the eyelids and inner corner of the eyes.”
Step 8: Eyeliner
“You can also add a tight line eyeliner along the top lashes if you would like a little more definition, but don’t line the lower lashes as you want to keep the eyes wide and sparkling. Instead try Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl in ‘Eye Cheat’. A cream colour liner applied inside the lower waterline to make the eyes look bigger and help clean up any redness.
Step 9: Lipstick
“Lastly apply a moisturising blush coloured lipstick or gloss such as It Cosmetics ‘Je-ne-Sais-quoi lip treatment which adapts to your own lip colour enhancing it just enough to make them stand out, but at the same time look subtle.
“For for a bit more of a sheer berry pout try their ‘Vitality Lip Flush’ in shades ‘Pure Joy’ or ‘Pretty Woman’.
