A little lipstick can go a long way when you’re feeling a bit down and there are plenty of other ways your beauty regime can give your mood a boost too.

When life has got you down the last thing you might be thinking of is self beautification, but actually taking care of yourself – even in some small very small ways – can work wonders for your happiness levels.

Here are some ways you can beat the blues using your beauty regime.

Get a Mani Pedi

Nibbled, cracked nails can be a constant reminder of your stress and worry levels. Find time for a date at a nail salon to put a bit of colour back into your hands and feet. If you simply can’t get to a professional create your very own at-home spa, complete with DIY hand and foot scrub made with a teaspoon of Lumity Skin Nutrients Facial Oil and a sprinkle of brown sugar.

Catching a peak at your newly painted fingers might just put a smile on your face and stop you biting them too! There’s something about manicured nails that makes you feel polished, even if on the inside you’re feeling a bit off your game.

Pamper Yourself in the P.M

Attempting to primp yourself in the morning when you’re getting ready for work, making kids’ lunches, writing last minute emails or just simply trying to get out of the door, can be a stressful nightmare.

While we don’t suggest applying your makeup before you go to sleep, there are some things you can do in the evening to give yourself a little more time in the morning.

Blow dry and straighten your hair before you go to bed and just give it a touch up in the morning. Or pop a hydrating face mask on before you go to sleep. It’ll give your skin radiance come the morning.

Fake a Tan

You know how much healthier and happier you feel when you have a tan, so don’t just save it for holidays. Nowadays you can fake that glow with ease with a pro tan or self-tanner. It’s safer than basking in the real sun but you can still get that feel-good post-holiday feeling.

Facial Massage

Lumity Facial Oil is packed with 32-all-natural ingredients with a citrusy scent to make you feel more uplifted. It’s not just the powerful combination of hydrating oils and extracts that make your skin more radiant. If you indulge in a facial massage using the oil, you’ll look in the mirror and instantly feel more refreshed. The massage will release tension from your face too. Unsure of how to do it? Let the Light In

You might not think of light being party of your beauty routine but getting your daily dose is extremely important to your wellbeing and your mood. When you get up open the blinds and keep your body in sync with the outside world. Getting your body clock – or circadian rhythm as it’s also known – in check can quite literally brighten your day.

If you think you suffer from SAD – Seasonal  – book a visit to a health professional and consider a course of LED Light Therapy.

Breathe Deep

Nobody likes to look in the mirror and see a reflection with red, tired eyes! But rather than immediately reaching for the eye drops why not try Nadia Narain’s 4-minute breathing technique to give you sparkly eyes. It’ll not only release toxins but give you a sense of calm and relaxation which will help boost your mood. The celebrity yoga instructor – whose clients include Kate Moss and Reese Witherspoon – filmed the video segment for Lumity to show you just how to do it. She suggests indulging in the session in the morning though so you may want to set your alarm just a few minutes early.
