Cheryl has never looked better. As a new mum to fourteen-month-old baby Bear, the former Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge is happier than she’s ever been in her life. Cheryl has returned to the spotlight after a four year break with a new single and a new TV show looking sensational.
But as any new mum knows, finding the time to eat, let alone tend to your wellness and beauty goals as a mum of a small baby is hard. Thankfully for us, Cheryl has been sharing some of her amazing beauty tricks with her fans in a series of interviews.
And, as you can imagine, we were skipping cartwheels of joy when we opened up Glamour magazine and discovered that her conversation with beauty director extraordinaire, Alessandra Steinherr, included the nugget of information that she’s been taking Lumity since having little Bear – and she thinks it’s great!
Here’s a collection of Cheryl’s top tips to looking your best as we approach the Christmas party season – with our very favourite one right at the top!
Cheryl says that when it comes to prepping your skin for make up, the very best thing you can do is ensure that your skin looks great: “What I’ve now realised is that eating right, exercising right and having good skin is the best starting point. Recently, I’ve started taking a vitamin supplement a friend gave me as a baby gift: Lumity’s Morning and Night Supplements. They seem to be working amazingly!”
Another genius tip of Cheryl’s is when you’re running a bath to pop in a swirl of your favourite oil, which saves you having to moisturise all over when you get out of the bath. Her favourite is Bio-Oil which is a specialist oil that is said to help with stretch marks, uneven skin and dry skin. Cheryl explains: “I started putting oils in the bath with me, oils like Bio Oil, so when I get out I’m already moisturised. It’s one less thing to do. I mean, be careful you don’t slip – I don’t want to be responsible for that!” – That’s a brilliant tip for everyone but especially new mums as they’re so busy!
One of the best beauty tips we have heard is from Cayli Cavaco Reck who told us to shave our legs using coconut oil. And, it turns out that Cheryl agrees and uses it for everything – including on baby Bear! She told Vogue: “Coconut oil is amazing. You can use it on your hair, as a mask, on your face, on your body, in your bath, you can eat it, you can put it on the baby.”
SPF, SPF and MORE SPF
Cheryl has admitted that she regrets sunbathing so much when she was younger and is now religious about protecting her skin from the sun: “I used to bake – I was a bit of a sun worshipper. I used to put on no factor, or an oil that enhanced the tan rather than prevented one, so I wish somebody had have told me that you can still get a nice glow but with protection also. I wear factor 30 now.”
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
When asked what advice she would give her younger self, Cheryl said: “To eat right and drink so much water. Prevention rather than try to treat stuff is the way forward. Take care of yourself when you’re super young and you’ll be grateful.” Cheryl also named her beauty icon of all time, saying: “Marilyn Monroe. Her beauty is just captivating, it’s not really about loads of make-up, it’s just about her oozing beauty and glamour. I think she wears the make-up, the make-up doesn’t wear her.”
Cheryl has designed a limited edition set of lip kits which are on sale at L’Oreal’s website. £1 from each Paint by Cheryl Lip Kit will go to Cheryl’s Trust, in association with The Prince’s Trust, a charity that creates brighter futures for young people aged 11 to 30, empowering them to get into jobs, education and training. How fabulous is that? Here she is pictured on her Instagram wearing her favourite shade – burgundy – which is most definitely a winning look, especially in the run up to the festive season.
