Five things to do before bed for perfect skin

We all know the importance of beauty sleep but what you do before you hit the hay can go a long way towards giving you a flawless complexion too. These super quick but effective tips will have you waking up with a radiant reflection in no time.

By the time it gets to bedtime a beauty regime might be the furthest thing from your mind. But there are five seriously easy steps you can take right before you doze off that’ll give you the very best chance of having skin you can only normally dream of.

Remove your makeup

We know it’s incredibly tempting to flop into bed with a full face of makeup and deal with it in the morning, but it really is one of the worst things you can do for your skin.

Regardless of if you use a lot or a little cover up it’s important to clean off the day’s cosmetics because leaving it on your skin will make it a breading ground for bacteria and increase your chances of a breakout. Not to mention your poor bedsheets will pay the price too.

You can use a little Lumity’s Skin Nutrients Facial Oil first and then double up with a gentle cleanser afterwards to remove all traces of makeup.

Facial massage

Moisturise your skin properly before you go to bed so that you’re skin doesn’t dry out overnight. A facial massage like A-list facialist Nichola Joss suggests using Lumity’s Skin Nutrients Facial Oil will remove tension from the muscles and hydrate your skin. The oil itself is all natural with 32 carefully chosen ingredients which work together for complete nourishment. It’s lightweight too which means you won’t go to bed feeling sticky or greasy.

Change your pillowcase

You don’t have to change your pillowcase every night, but ensuring you’re laying your pretty little head and face on the right sort of linen can make a big difference to how you look in the AM. A silk pillowcase is ideal for a cooler night’s sleep, which means you’ll sweat less and reduce the bacterial build up. Plus it reduces the amount of friction between your face and the material which reduces the chances of wrinkles.

Silk is lovely and soft and doesn’t absorb too much moisture from your skin either, so it’ll help keep it hydrated overnight.

Take your supplements

Lumity Day and Nighttime Supplements have been carefully created with powerful ingredients to nourish your body from the inside out. In addition to improving the appearance of your hair, skin and nails they also give you natural energy by day and help you sleep well at night.

Remembering to consistently take your three daytime capsules when you wake up and three nighttime ones before bed will keep your skin glowing and help give you that all important 24/7 influx of the right nutrients at the right time.

Check the time

You need to be well rested to have glowing skin. It’s no good doing all the steps above if you’re regularly crashing in the early hours of the morning and getting up at the crack of dawn.

If getting between seven and nine hours of sleep a night sounds laughable then you might want to work on building a nighttime regime which will help you drift off easier and earlier.

Skin cells needs time to regenerate and repair overnight and when you don’t sleep your stress hormone cortisol rises too. This causes inflammatory issues, such as acne and can be the reason you wake up puffy with a dull complexion.

If you’re struggling to sleep because you’re anxious, stressed or worried then meditation, reading a book or learning breathing techniques can help you have a more relaxing bedtime and hopefully better looking skin in the morning too.
