How to get Amal Clooney’s glam makeup look in minutes

If you’re looking for a timeless makeup look for your wedding then how about using Amal Clooney for inspiration? She wore her gorgeous, hard-working cosmetics effortlessly rather than a heavy face full of makeup wearing her. Here’s how to capture that magic…
It’s almost two years since the world’s most commitment phobic bachelor – George Clooney – fell in love with a Lebanese-British lawyer called Amal Alamuddin and they tied the knot in Venice, Italy, surrounded by over 300 friends and family.
And, if that wasn’t stressful enough, it was all done under the scrutiny of the world’s media.
During the three-day festivities, Amal had her glam squad on hand, headed up by London’s flame-haired, ethereal makeup artist to the stars – Charlotte Tilbury.
Amal’s wedding makeup couldn’t take long to apply; with a packed itinerary of parties, lunches and dinners to attend she needed to look effortlessly fabulous, with a look that was classic but not overdone which would stand up to long lens paparazzi photos being beamed across the globe – without needing continual touch ups. Oh, and with up to three outfit changes each day it had to be a look that went with everything and would go from day to night with ease.
It’s an uber-glam look that stands the test of time and works not only on brides but on anyone who needs to look gorgeous in a matter of minutes. Luckily for us as September wedding season kicks off, Charlotte has taken the time to do a video which explains exactly how to get the look, and which products she used on Mrs. Clooney’s big day.
To start, if you have time, do a face mask.
Charlotte used her own Goddess Skin Clay Mask on Amal and says that even doing it for ten minutes will make a profound difference: “It lifts, smooths, brightens, and tightens pores as if you literally just had the most unbelievable facial,” she says.
Take a warm, wet towel to wipe it all off and apply Charlotte’s Magic Cream, which is packed with a potent mix of oils and hyaluronic acid that clear away any dead skin cells. Applying Wonderglow primer all over your face is next on the list; “It’s one of my secret weapons,” Charlotte says. Then a dash of Lip Magic softens and moisturises lips and preps them for a vampish slick of berry lipstick.
Charlotte suggests using a foundation brush to apply her Light Wonder Foundation. “It gives you fabulous coverage, but it’s really breathable and light,” she says. Charlotte advises applying Retoucher #3 concealer pen with your fingers and blending it around your eyes to hide dark circles, but for your nose and any spots use Retoucher #4. Next, comes an all over dusting of Airbrush Flawless Finish powder. “It gives you this HD, airbrush-like perfect finish that looks great on camera,” Charlotte explains, so it’s one to use when you want to look your best in photos (and who doesn’t?).
Next, comes eyebrows: “Amal has gorgeously, lush, thick brows so I just used the Cara D Brow Lift pencil to elongate them,” Charlotte says. She adds that if you curl your lashes for ten seconds on each eye it’s like a “push up bra” for your eyelashes, opens your eyes up, and really makes a difference.
For eyes, Charlotte uses her own golden eyeshadow Marie Antoinette, and applies to both eyelids as it shimmers and picks up the light – so it’s perfect for a day to night look. Brighten the inner corners of your eyes with Jean shade eyeshadow and then carefully add Classic Eyeliner in Sophia along the lash line, before finishing off with a couple of coats of Full Fat Lashes mascara.
Charlotte says that if you suck in your cheeks, you can see the hollows – which is where you lightly apply Filmstar Bronze and Glow bronzer, before dusting a highlighter along the cheek bone. “It makes your face look like it’s dripping in candlelight,” she says. Then applying Cheek to Chic in Love Glow on the apples of your cheeks will give you that final fresh glow, “it is a pretty pink golden color that’s truly breathtaking on skin and looks great on everyone,” Charlotte says.
And, you’re ready to shine!
It’s incredible to think that George once bet Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman $10,000 each that he would never get married.
If you’re planning a wedding celebrity facialist Nichola Joss advises taking Lumity’s supplements in the run up to the big day, as well as doing day and night facial massage with our award-winning Facial Oil.
