How to protect your face from wrinkles during your summer holiday

Look after yourself from the inside out during your summer holiday and help keep wrinkles at bay too.

Summer holidays should be about sun, sea and sand but that doesn’t mean your skincare regime should go out the window too. If you want to return home with a sunkissed glow rather than a dried out, wrinkled complexion then there are some things you should ensure you take care of.

Wear sunscreen

You should be wearing sunscreen all year round, rain or shine but it’s even more important when you’re out in the sunshine day in day out on vacation. Exposure to UV rays is damaging and speeds up the skin’s ageing process not to mention puts you at risk of skin cancer.

Lather up with a high SPF and if you’re worried about the chemicals in the sunscreen opt for a mineral one which can be kinder to your skin and is just as effective.

Apply Lumity’s Skin Nutrients Facial Oil

Lumity’s Skin Nutrients Facial Oil is fantastic for nourishing and hydrating your skin in the first place and a facial massage with the all-natural oil will give you a glowing complexion. But it’s also good for healing and repairing skin which may have got a little too much sun.

Eat well

You should definitely be allowed to relax and indulge a little on holiday, but remember what you eat can make a big difference to the appearance of your skin.

Pick foods which are rich in antioxidants to help protect your skin. Tomatoes are packed with lycopene which has natural sunscreen properties and the likes of strawberries, watermelon and raspberries are loaded with vitamin C which is also a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties too.

Filling up with fatty, sugary and processed foods will make you feel bloated, blurgh and won’t do much for your complexion either. So switch out the burger for a piece of fatty and delicious fish like salmon and you’ll look and feel much better for it.

Limit alcohol

A cocktail around the swimming pool or glass of wine at sunset is something most people look forward to on their summer getaway and there is nothing wrong with that. But alcohol does dehydrate your skin which can leave it looking older than it’s years. In fact even after just one evening of too many G&Ts you’ll likely see a less than perfect looking complexion starring back at you in the mirror.

Try having a glass of water in between every alcohol drink to stay hydrated.

Take Lumity Day and Night Supplements

It won’t do you any good to suddenly decide to add a supplement to your diet the week before you go away but by investing in Lumity Day and Night Supplements and adding them consistently to your regime will not only benefit your skin, hair and nails but your overall wellbeing too. The capsules are full of the essential nutrients your body needs and you can expect your skin’s elasticity, hydration and collagen to improve when you commit to remembering to take them morning and night.

They also contain carotenoids and antioxidants which will help reduce the harmful effects of the sun’s rays.

Since they now come in handy travel sized packs they won’t take up much room in your suitcase either.

Stay in the shade

It’s not always easy to keep in the shade and you may not even want to, but keeping out of the direct sunlight at the peak time of day when the sun is at it’s strongest will help you avoid skin damage there and then and wrinkles down the line.

Consider buying a wide brimmed hat to shade your face and remember to wear your sunglasses to protect that delicate skin around your eyes which is prone to wrinkling.
