It seems unfathomable that Goldie Hawn is 72-years-old! The loveable star is living, breathing proof that with age comes beauty and a whole lot of fun and here’s how she maintains her natural good looks and fabulous figure.
If you want a firm reminder that life can look sensational after 70, you only need look at Goldie Hawn.
The fun-loving Hollywood icon dances like no one is watching on her Instagram – even though she’s got 1.5 million followers smiling at her every move – and she makes no excuses for refusing to let a little thing like age drag her down.
So you’ll be pleased to know that when it comes to her beauty regime it’s not packed with unrealistic, extreme workouts, bizarre diets and unheard tricks of the A-list trade. Because instead she stays youthful with these simple, but clearly effective, health hacks.
Exercise when you can
Goldie knows the value of exercise and she ensures she’s active every day, no matter how busy her schedule.
“I walk every day and I run and do all kinds of that,” says Goldie who also hikes, bikes and admits she just tries, “to have as much fun as possible.”
When she doesn’t have a full hour to dedicate to exercise she doesn’t give up though and will do it in 15-minute intervals instead.
“If you work out for 15 minutes, it’s really good for you. If you’re taxing yourself too much in an hour, you’re taxing a lot of things. You’re building heart but you’re also using heartbeats and you only have so many.”
Drink green juice
Goldie loves green juices, in fact her daughter Kate Hudson once revealed her mum had been drinking the concoction “forever”. The combination of apple, flaxseed oil, kale, spinach, celery, cucumber and parsley will not only hydrate you but help keep your skin glowing too.
Goldie kicks her day off with one of these healthy smoothies and says her pet peeve is “not enough green juice”.
Dance, dance, dance
Goldie doesn’t take herself too seriously and if she wants to break into dance she will. Since dancing has been proven to help you stay younger for longer it looks like Goldie – whose first love was ballet not acting – is on to something.
Keep your hair natural
For most of us it’s probably too late but it’s interesting to know that Goldie’s California blonde hair is all natural.
“I know it sounds strange, but I’ve never colored my hair,” she said in 2013. ” I just put a regular rinse on it because I don’t have any chemicals on it.”
Practice meditation and mindfulness
When she isn’t leaping around her living room by herself, with her grandkids or her longtime partner Kurt Russell, Goldie takes time to be calm, relax and meditate.
She’s a long time believer in the practice and has even written books about meditation.
“If you’re going to train your body, it would be a really good thing to also train your brain,” she says.
And although she tries to fit in 20 minutes in the morning and some meditation in the evening she says even finding one mindful minute 10 times a day will help keep you calm and put you in a different mindset.
The star maintains her fabulous figure with exercise and a healthy, sensible diet and one big factor in this is that she doesn’t overindulge.
“I think we overeat,’ she says. “I do a lot of juicing, I don’t put a lot of food in my stomach and I don’t mix my foods too much. So if I want to have like protein I’ll just eat a bowl of lentils, I won’t mix it with a bunch of stuff.”
When it comes to her go-to lunch Goldie loves a green salad with broccolini and for dinner it’s more green goodness.
She confessed she makes a mean green watercress soup and green beans with fish.
Enjoy everything in moderation
While she watches what she eats for Goldie life is also about living, and if that means enjoying a glass of wine – she’s often raising a glass on social media – with her family she’s going to do it. She’s passed down that mentality to her daughter too. “My mom has always been healthy, but she’s not a health nut,” Kate admits. “I’m the same way. I absolutely believe in enjoying my food.”
