Is water a key part of your beauty toolkit?

When it’s hot outside in the summer months, it’s easy to drink the required amount of water, but have you noticed that at this time of year all you crave is hot, warming drinks?
And, if you’re having lots of caffeinated drinks, which have a mild diuretic effect, there’s a good chance you’re not drinking as much water as your body needs for glowing skin.
Staying hydrated is a key component for feeling and looking healthy, plus it is essential for optimal cellular health. If your cells are thirsty, and starving for hydration, chances are you’re low on energy, prone to more headaches, cravings, skin problems, and perhaps harbouring unwanted fat and toxins.
Here are 5 reasons why hydrating is so important:
Looking younger: One of the main causes of accelerated ageing (prominent wrinkles, arthritis, joint pain, puffy eyes, grey and weakened hair and brittle nails) is because your body is dehydrated. Your food and thoughts can either hinder or help your health, and it is important that unwanted toxins and excess fat is removed from your body.
When you are properly hydrated and including lots of plants in your diet, your cells function optimally and you remove the ageing toxins naturally and easily.
Energise: If you are not getting your recommend daily dose of hydrating liquids, your body will send you signals that it to time to drink up; you may experience brain fog, fatigue, mood swings, irritability, hunger pangs (even though you just ate), dry skin and low stamina. By staying properly hydrated, your energy levels will soar and your mood and memory levels will be elevated.
Flawless skin: If you experience skin problems like psoriasis, eczema, acne, dryness and rashes, by staying hydrated with 2-3 large bottles of water a day, your skin problems should start to disappear, revealing a more youthful, glowing, clear complexion.
Banishing bloat and melting fat: If you are trying shift weight, or struggling to lose that final extra 5 lbs, staying hydrated will clear out unwanted toxins, fats, and boost your metabolism. Dehydration is often mistaken for hunger, and cravings for carbs or refined foods. By simply staying hydrated, you will curb cravings, flush fats, and help banish bloat.
Tip: Infuse your water with sliced lemons, cucumber or limes to for extra flavour (citrus also helps rev up your metabolism).
Balanced PH: You may have heard of the term alkalising and acidic recently, meaning certain foods and drinks either can help or hinder your health; a very acidic state is said to lead to accelerated ageing and illness. If you’re sipping the recommended amount of water a day, you start
to feel a surge of health, energy and vitality. Staying hydrated will help maintain a healthy alkaline state, flushing out toxins, fats, bacterial growths, yeast and candida, and your energy, vitality and skin health will greatly improve.
Aim to have at least eight glasses a day of filtered, purified water a day, but this also includes sipping fresh veggie juices, and herbal teas.
