Summer is here and the swimsuits are out in force, but a bloated tummy can be the unwanted side effect of barbecues, alcohol and lashings of ice cream. Fear not though because there are some things you can do to de-bloat quick sharp and be back on fabulous form in no time.

There are numerous reasons you might be suffering from a bloated stomach, from water retention, to stress, indigestion or simply too much food. But fortunately you don’t have to write off the rest of your week to feeling full and uncomfortable. In fact with these natural tips and tricks your inflated tummy can be flatter within just a few hours.

Spice it up

Add a little spice to your life and kick your bloating in the backside by throwing a teaspoon of cayenne pepper into the mix. It will stimulate digestion and ease gas.

Drink apple cider vinegar

It might not be your drink of choice but apple cider vinegar gives the de-bloating process a real boost so adding a tablespoon of it to a glass of water or drinking it straight up will help balance healthy bacteria in the gut. It’ll also improve digestion by upping the stomach acid.

Reduce your portions

Wolfing down a large plate of food will certainly not help your stomach issues. Instead eat smaller meals more frequently and give your digestive system a break.

Slow down

When you eat quickly you swallow excess air which can lead to gassiness and discomfort. By slowing down your consumption of food you’ll not only enjoy it more but you’re far less likely to go back in for seconds too.

Drink ginger and lemon

Ginger is fantastic for de-bloating and coupled up with lemon to help flush out the toxins, you’ve got a winning combo.

Since bloating can be caused by water retention sipping on a cup of hot, ginger and lemon tea can help. Ironically one of the best ways to shed water weight is by drinking plenty of it, so this will kill two birds with one delicious stone.
