Natural ways to get younger-looking hands
-Aug 9, Hannah Hargrave, Beauty -
With the right skincare regime people might think that you’re younger than you are, but your hands could give you away. With a little TLC, you can ensure that your hands look as youthful as your face.
Grace Kelly was right when she said a woman’s age shows on her hands much quicker than anywhere else. Given that you use your hands for pretty much everything, from gardening to cooking and cleaning, it’s not surprising that they can quickly become tired-looking. But despite their hard work, hands are often forgotten about when it comes to keeping them looking youthful.
Fortunately there are plenty of ways you can turn back the hands of time, improve the appearance of the skin and give them a healthy helping hand!
You might use your hands to apply sunscreen but many people then completely forget to give their digits a dose of SPF. Exposure to the sun and UV damage causes age spots and if you don’t wear suncream they can appear prematurely. Stop new ones from forming by applying sunscreen every day, even when the sun isn’t shining.
Plump them up
Try gently massaging your hands with Lumity Facial Oil in the evening. It’s a fantastic way to relax and soothe away the stresses of the day. Some hand creams contain toxins, so if you prefer a cream make sure it’s free of nasties and always check the label.
A little bit of exfoliation goes a long way. Buffing away old skin cells to make way for fresh ones will help hands look younger. If your hands are dry and flaky they immediately look old. Exfoliating also boosts circulation and will leave your hands ultra soft too.
Take a supplement
Taking a supplement like Lumity’s two-step formula helps to look after the skin all over your body, not just on your face. Also, don’t forget to include a steady steam of nutrients in your diet – your hands will thank you for it.
Get a manicure
Getting a professional manicure is relaxing and they’ll probably throw in a collagen boosting hand massage too, but if you can’t splash out on a visit to the salon then pick up a pot of a classic shade like apple red or timeless pale pink and do it yourself. The pop of colour will draw the eye away from any lines you would prefer people didn’t look at.
You need to protect your hands and this means wearing gloves. We aren’t talking about wearing mittens in the heat of the summer but donning rubber gloves when washing up and to protect them from harsh chemicals when cleaning is important. Also wearing gardening gloves for the weeding will not only keep the dirt from getting under your finger nails but will protect them from the harsh weather or the sun. It’s even a good idea to wear driving gloves too. Although the windshield protects you from UV rays, the side windows don’t. There are even lightweight gloves especially designed to wear in the summer.
You could also take a leaf out of Karl Lagerfeld and Madonna’s style books and wear fingerless leather gloves if you’re not happy with your hands.
