Facial oil can seem like a counter-intuitive choice – surely oil on the face just makes it greasy and prone to spots and pimples? The truth is the exact opposite: the right oils have a very balancing effect on your face and will sort out blemishes as the skin is nourished, so functions optimally – resulting in the holy grail of midlife skin desires: fewer wrinkles and fewer breakouts!

PASSION FLOWER SEED OIL
This vitamin and mineral-rich oil has been shown to stimulate skin fibroblasts, the cells that synthesise collagen and elastin. It is a very light, thin oil, ideal for sensitive and oilier skin types.
BAOBAB SEED OIL
Cold pressed from the seed of the baobab tree, this is a revered beauty staple in Africa and and is a high-powered, vitamin-packed hydrator, rich in omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. It is high in vitamins A and F, both vital to skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing.
Known as Africa’s beauty secret, and rich in vitamins C and E, this oil speeds healing. Its high oleic acid and phytosterol content improves strength, suppleness and firmness in the skin and its soothing and strengthening properties are ideal for sensitive skin. It’s moisturising but won’t clog your pores and is easily absorbed into the skin.
EVENING PRIMROSE OIL
This classic favourite – often taken internally to help balance hormones, is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is ideal for soothing, softening and moisturising the skin. It has a dual effect of balancing oil production while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
SESAME SEED OIL
Extracted from the humble sesame seed, this oil is rich in zinc, copper, magnesium, vitamin E, vitamin K and coenzyme Q10, all important nutrients for the skin. It helps boost smoothness, elasticity and bolsters the skin’s natural barrier against environmental damage.
