How to have younger-looking skin without spending a fortune

But there are some simple skincare hacks you can do for instant radiance. Here are some of our favourite budget-friendly skincare tips. 

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

It’s common knowledge that our bodies are made up of around 60% water. There’s a reason for this. Water is one of the key components in pretty much all of the body’s processes, including cell growth, absorption of nutrients and flushing out toxins. It’s no wonder, then, that water is so essential for skin health. By aiding in the normal function of cells, plus helping skin to take in the good stuff and get rid of the nasties, drinking plenty of water is a sure-fire way to get better skin.


Stress is a demon that can wreak havoc on our skin as well as other aspects of our physical and mental wellbeing. Whilst this is often easier said than done, taking some time to unwind could be an instant skin-win. Meditation, mindfulness and deep breathing are perfect ways to quiet the mind – if you can find a quiet space and a spare ten minutes. Otherwise, a run or brisk walk outside will help to get your endorphins flowing and soothe any frayed nerves.

Clean your brushes

When you’re applying makeup every day, it can be easy to forget how much bacteria and dirt that your makeup brushes can hold. The gradual build up of dust, dirt, dead skin cells and bacteria can have a less-than-desirable effect when it comes to achieving clear skin. Make sure you’re giving your brushes and sponges a thorough clean once a week to prevent a dull complexion and avoid blocked pores or blemishes.

Wash with lukewarm water

Whether you’re a fan of a long, hot bath or an ice-cold shower, the temperature of the water can make a difference to your skin. Water that’s too hot can dry out skin, whilst water that’s too cold only tends to have a temporary effect. Instead, take a leaf out of the Asian beauty book and opt for lukewarm water when you wash. This can help to reduce any redness or irritation on your skin, leading to glowing and healthy-looking skin that will last all day.
