Your daytime vs nighttime skincare regimes

Although there are products that work for your skin both day and night, preparing your skin for the AM versus the PM should actually be very different.
Although there are products that work for your skin both day and night, preparing your skin for the AM versus the PM should actually be very different.

Just as your body needs rest and recuperation overnight so does your skin and that means when it comes to your skincare routine at bedtime it needs some extra TLC.

In the same manner when you wake up in the morning your skin needs to be prepped for it’s stressful day ahead. As you deal with the daily pressures of life, it must deal with makeup, UV rays, bacteria and an array of environmental pollutants.

For this reason once you’ve taken your Lumity Day Supplements after you’re alarm has gone off there are some other valuable steps you should be taking.

Cleanse: Although you would have cleaned your skin before you went to bed, it’s a good idea to start your morning cleansing the skin for the day ahead.

Moisturise and SPF: It doesn’t matter if the sun isn’t shining you still need to protect skin from harmful UV rays. So when you apply a moisturiser it’s a good idea to kill two birds with one stone and chose one with SPF. A daytime moisturiser will keep your skin plumped up and protected but it shouldn’t be too thick.

Lumity Facial Oil: Follow A-list facialist Nichola Joss’ short but effective facial massage using Lumity Facial Oil. Not only will the all natural oil help keep you skin hydrated and plumped up, it also contains powerful antioxidants to help protect the skin from the damaging effects of the environment.

Makeup: Lumity Facial Oil is also a great base for your makeup, which goes on next. You can even use it on top of your concealer to get a glow.

Cleanse: You need to remove all that grime and makeup from the day and this is best done with a cleanser. Many dermatologists recommend an oil cleanser which can safely remove your cosmetics and dirt but it won’t strip your skin of it’s natural oils.

Tone: Not everyone wants or needs a toner but if you have acne-prone skin or you wear a lot of makeup or heavy skin products then giving your skin and extra cleanse with a water-based toner could be a good idea.

Night cream: Nighttime moisturisers are generally heavier and richer than a daytime cream. They are specially formulated to adhere to the skin’s nighttime rhythm. This means they help regenerate and repair. Because they are generally thicker it’s best to keep it for overnight as they can also look less aesthetically pleasing – and a little greasy – in the light of day.

If you are looking for a cream containing retinol you definitely need to keep this for bedtime. Retinol can become unstable in the sun and air and you risk your skin getting damaged if you wear a product containing it in the daytime.

Lumity Facial Oil: Just as you did in the morning a nighttime facial massage with Lumity Facial Oil fits nicely into your bedtime routine. It relaxes your muscles and releases tension from the day as well as the oil’s ingredients helping to repair and regenerate skin.

Eye Cream: Applying a good eye cream – the right way – will help the delicate skin around your eyes firm up and reduce puffiness. Use it at night so the sun can’t dry it out or worse cause it to run into your eyes.

Now your skin is ready to hit the hay and you are almost there too. Just before you slip into the land of nod remember to take your Lumity Night Supplements and you are all set for a great night’s sleep.
